Minibus for transporting the elderly and disabled
Deadlift Project, in the first half of 2021, a difficult year for the post-pandemic recovery, around 10,000 people accompanying them were guaranteed, divided among the 60 vehicles available and transporting around 3,500 people. The data at the end of July shows that the kilometers traveled were more than 300 thousand, touching 48 municipalities in the province. These are the numbers that photograph the extent of the Stacco project, a transport and social accompaniment service coordinated by the CSV of Verona and carried out by almost 300 volunteers from about twenty associations in the province of Verona, which guarantees transport for the many elderly and people fragile and accompanying not only to and from hospitals and medical clinics but also for social, health and recreational activities.
Stacco is a dynamic transport service provided thanks to those who offer their availability as drivers, central operators, escorts. Born in 2007 and developed over all these years, Stacco is made possible by a loan from the Veneto Region whose funds include part of the costs. However, the management costs of the machinery remain onerous. Furthermore, in the face of the constant increase in requests for transport, it is also necessary to implement the number of volunteers who serve in various capacities. On the occasion of 4 October, the international gift day, the CSV of Verona has therefore decided to launch a special campaign to support Stacco and the associations that are part of it. You can become a volunteer in many ways, through a donation, contributing to the costs of the project or by donating your time.
