Conspiracy theorists demonstrate in Zug +++ City of Chur does not vaccinate on school grounds because of threats
The dispute in Germany about the mask requirement in schools rages on. Medical representatives plead for a general elimination. A well-known virologist opposes this with clear words.
The abolition of the mask requirement in schools is a hard argument in view of the increasing number of infections. The president of the professional association of paediatricians, Thomas Fischbach, spoke out in favor of the repeal.
“I think a general continuation of a mask requirement in schools is inappropriate,” said Fischbach the newspapers of the Funke media group. Medical President Klaus Reinhardt has a similar view. Experts like the virologist Melanie Brinkmann warned against it.
The week-long decline in the number of infections seems to have come to an end. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence rose slightly for the fourth day in a row: to 64.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week. The previous day the value was 64.3, a week ago it was 60.6 (previous month: 76.9).
The virologist Melanie Brinkmann from the Braunschweig Helmholtz Center for Infection Research believes that the abolition of the mask requirement in schools is premature. “If you want to do away with something whose benefits have been scientifically proven and which quickly costs nothing, you can do that. The only question is whether it is wise, ”she told the“ Rheinische Post ”. “Given the high number of non-vaccinated people, including the children, I consider this decision to be premature – and, to be honest, quite stupid.”
