Centenary Cup, the Titano San Marino overcomes Loreto Pesaro and remains undefeated –
Great win for the Titans in the second round of the Cup. At Multieventi, in their seasonal debut on the friendly parquet, Macina and his teammates beat Loreto Pesaro 69-58 and climb to 4 points in the group, with Fossombrone at 2 after the away victory against Young Pesaro Basketball. MVP and star of the match Ricky Fornaciari, author of some crucial triples and best scorer at 16.
THE CHRONICLE. Not exactly perfect first ten minutes, with turnovers and little effectiveness in the Titans game. Guests ahead 0-4, Pallacanestro Titano did well with the break of 8-0 (4 points in a row by Dini) and Pesaro again to equalize at 8-8 with 3’35 “from the end of the period. The final starting point is Loreto, which rises to +6 at 10 ‘thanks to Benevelli (10-16).
The trend remains the same until halfway through the second half, with the guests reaching the maximum advantage of 15-24 thanks to a couple of bombs from Campagnoli. At that point, to turn the game for the first time, here is Fornaciari, author of the eight-meter triple that opens the blue and white partial. The Titans are galvanized, they play with more energy and in an amen they return to contact, remaining at a glue before the long interval (26-27).
The second half is decidedly more prolific from an offensive point of view, with the two teams that in the third quarter always remain within possession of each other, with overtaking and counter-overtaking. On parity at 45, here is another important triple from Fornaciari, the one who signs 48-45 on the siren of the third quarter. For the last ten minutes, the Titans are always in charge. Saponi goes with the triple of +6, Liberti puts the free throw of +8 and the scissor is still two full when there are 3 minutes to the siren (62-56). The defense does its duty and Andrea Raschi puts it to decide the basket, recovering an offensive rebound and scores from under 66-56 with 1’20 “from the end. Pallacanestro Titano wins, is alone in the lead in the Cup group and is preparing to start the championship next Saturday in Jesi. (Source: Titano San Marino basketball press office)
