In the spaces of the Gallery Claudio Poleschi Contemporary Art inaugurates this evening at 18.00 the personal exhibition of Bertozzi & Casoni “Evergreen”: «For the first time Bertozzi & Casoni they exhibit in San Marino their painted sculptures that have obtained international fame and hospitality in important museums and prestigious art galleries thanks to complex and primary engaging iconography and primary use of a material such as ceramic brought to expressive and mimetic levels never obtained. In their “contemplations of the present”, with references to the great artistic category of vanitas, the attraction for what is fleeting, transitory and perishable becomes an internationally recognized icon of a human condition, not only contemporary, “explained the gallery.
In a side room, dedicated to new projects, the Claudio Poleschi Arte Contemporanea Gallery also presents a preview of the unpublished works of the young artist Zeno Bertozzi with the exhibition “Con tatto”.
The words of Bertozzi & Casoni
The “Evergreen” exhibition can be read as an anthology dedicated to your production of the last two decades. What are the main aspects that have characterized your research in the last two decades?
“Yup. In the last two decades our interest has focused on the search for a renewal, but always in the wake of the tradition of art ».
How has the consideration of ceramics in contemporary art changed since you started today?
«In 1980 a young artist who for geographical and educational reasons began his journey in the world of art with ceramics was faced with strong preconceptions and cultural walls. Today all this has changed, the world is globalized and digital, information is faster and free. I like to think, however, that if ceramics today are considered on a par with other expressive techniques and shown in important exhibitions all over the planet, it was also partly due to merit ».
With what criteria did you select the works exhibited within your vast production?
«The red thread that led to the choice of the works, but not all of them, was the title of the exhibition itself,“ Evergreen ”, also the title of one of our painted majolica works from the early 90s. In this word we have reconnected the tributes we have made “For” the masters of art history such as Morandi, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Warhol, consider as evergreens of art. Masters from whom we drew the motivations for doing ».
Can you indicate a couple of particularly significant works in the exhibition itinerary?
“Evergreen And Composition no. 14“.
What other exhibition projects do you have planned for the next few months?
«We are working on two projects that await us, the first linked to the idea of“ surprise and surprising ”and the second on“ contemporary masks ”».
Zeno Bertozzi, “With tact”
In a room of the Claudio Poleschi Contemporary Art Gallery, dedicated to new projects, with the exhibition “Con tatto” it is possible to get to know the unpublished works of the young artist Zeno Bertozzi.
«Zeno Bertozzi, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, – explained the gallery – has already participated in various group exhibitions and this is his first solo show. His initial works had as a term of comparison and experimentation works of antiquity such as busts of Andrea della Robbia or the Venus de Milo, the latter work on display. Working on plaster casts, Zeno Bertozzi selectively proceeded with a sort of plastic tattoo of the tender material, obtaining effects that lie between bone calcification, a natural effect and concretions of the most diverse nature. The result is a reflection on a time that can alter and vary eternal surfaces due to their classic beauty and on the relationship between a perfect and admirable epithelium (the work of man’s thought and hand) and an interior of very different origin and appearance ».
