Baja TT Capital of Portugal’s Wines: Tiago Reis wins SS2 and consolidates leadership of the competition

Tiago Reis / Valter Cardoso (Toyota Hilux) finished the second day of the 33rd edition of the Baja TT Capital dos Vinhos de Portugal in the lead of the overall car classification, increasing the gap to direct opponents with the victory in SS2. The Hilux duo is now 8: 39.4s behind an Alejandro Martins / José Marques (Mini John Cooper Works) duo overall. The race leaders were faster 1:40s in the 56.91km of the second sector selected than a pair Luis Recuenco / Sergio Peinado (Mini John Cooper Works). A Spanish pair maintains third place in the overall standings, now 9:13.6s behind the leaders in the standings.

In the second selective sector, a pair Edgar Condenso / António Serrão (Ford MO EXR05 Proto) was third fastest (+2: 37.0s), having finished the morning sector very late, falling to 18th place overall, but with the result achieved in the kilometers covered in the afternoon, a pair of Fords climbed to 13th place overall.

César Sequeira / Tânia Sequeira (Mini Cooper D Prototipo) finished the selective section of the afternoon with the fourth best time, maintaining the fourth place overall, at 11: 52.0 seconds behind Tiago Reis and Valter Cardoso. With the fifth time in SS2, there was a duo Alejandro Martins / José Marques, who needed more 2: 45.0s to finish the sector. They are the vice-leaders of the Alentejo race.

Highlight for the duo Edgar Reis / Filipe Martins (Mitsubishi Racing Lance) who, with the eighth best time achieved on SS2 (+3: 44.0s) managed to climb two positions in the overall standings, going from 9th place to 7th at the end of the day.
In front of Reis and Martins in the overall standings, André Amaral / Nelson Ramos (Ford Ranger) remain as duos in fifth place (+12: 34.7s), having finished SS2 with the seventh best time, and Nuno Madeira / Filipe Serra (sixth overall, at 13: 15.6s) also in Ford Ranger, having finished the selected sector with the sixth best time.

In eighth place overall is a pair David Spranger / Paulo Fiúza (20: 44.9S) followed by Francisco Barreto / Carlos Silva (Ford Ranger), who climbed from 13th place in the morning to penultimate place in the top 10, thanks to the ninth time achieved without SS2 (+4: 56.0s).
Closing the top ten in the overall standings are Filipe Carvalho and Fábio Belo (Bombardier X3 XRS), 24: 33.4s behind the leaders.
