“Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi wants to expand its activity in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, announced Tudorel Toader, institutional rector
“Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University (UAIC) in Iasi intends to expand its activity in four major cities in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the rector of the institution, Tudorel Toader, announced on Saturday in Botosani.
According to him, UAIC has started the steps for setting up extensions in the cities of Ismail, Chernivtsi and Odessa in Ukraine, but also in the municipality of Orhei in the Republic of Moldova.
Currently, UAIC has extensions in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, in the Republic of Moldova.
- “We are in a relatively advanced stage since the initiation and other extensions, in Ismail, in Chernivtsi, in Odessa, in Orhei. Basically, there is no difference between students. The same subject, the same teachers, the same educational content, the same diploma, with the same vocation to teach. The difference seems terminological. The branch is what we call in the country, the extension is what develops abroad, in the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine, with the same content, with the same status, only in extension we exceed the Romanian border “, said Toader.
He specified that the financing of foreign activities is ensured “also from the budget”, emphasizing that they are allocated for a student outside Romania’s borders are 2.5 times higher than in the country.
The rector of UAIC participated, on Saturday, in the opening of the academic year 2021-2022 at the Botoșani branch.
