Vlčan negotiated with Greece on possible cooperation, Slovakia wants to help the country with afforestation after fires
Slovakia will participate in helping Greece in locations that have recently been affected by large-scale fires.
This week, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Samuel Vlčan discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of afforestation, accompanying the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Eduard Heger on a foreign business trip to Greece. The office of agrominister Vlčan informed about it on Friday.
Several negotiations
During a two-day visit from 29 to 30 September 2021, Minister Samuel Vlčan visited the fire-ravaged area of Varibobi in the Attica region with the participation of the Regional Governor G. Patoulis and the Secretary General of the Environment K. Aravossis.
He also took part in a meeting with the Minister of the Environment and Energy, DG Kostas Skrekas, whose main topics were, in particular, discussing the possibilities of cooperation in afforestation of areas destroyed by fire, as well as in forestry in general.
The meeting was also focused on the issue of commonly discussed climate change and the functioning of the forestry sector in Slovakia in Greece.
Interest in the future development of relationships
During his visit to Greece, the next Minister Vlčan attended a bilateral meeting with a ministerial partner, the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food DG Spilios Livanos.
During the meetings, the topics of the common agricultural policy, the importance of water retention measures in the country and in the area of food and mutual trade were discussed.
Both parties express interest in the future development of bilateral relations in the fields of agriculture, food and forestry.
