It was one of the campaign promises of the mayor of Toulouse. UN new police station will soon see the light of day in the southwest of the pink city. This Thursday, September 30, 2021, Jean-Luc Moudenc, mayor of Toulouse and president of Toulouse Métropole, visited, in the company of Emilion Esnault, deputy mayor in charge of security and the good maintenance of public space and agents concerned, the premises in which the future municipal police station.
In two years, this new place will accommodate all the municipal police officers of the pink city, including the 100 additional agents. These must arrive by 2026. “There will be 20 new per year,” said Emilion Esnault at a press conference on September 15. As a reminder, these additional agents are provided for under the “integrated security contract”. In October 2020, the mayor of Toulouse pledged to increase the workforce to the tune of 20 additional municipal police officers per year between 2021 and 2025.
A new police station to facilitate the action of agents
The pink city currently has 350 police stations municipal. In 2026, there will be 450 of them. The first teams will move into the future Toulouse police station in the fall of 2022. The following teams will have to wait fall 2023. The objective of this new municipal police station is to facilitate the action of the agents. All the municipal services dedicated to security and tranquility such as management, video protection and the local security and crime prevention council can be brought together in one place.
Located outside the city center, this site will also guarantee “for the patrols an easy access to all the districts of the city”, assures the Toulouse town hall in a press release. She adds: “This place was also chosen to better meet the needs of agents (proximity to public transport, adapted car parks, etc.), improve their working conditions and thus facilitate the overall operation of services whose daily action requires a considerable commitment and operational consistency “.
