“Fortunately there are film and other festivals. They create culture, bring artists closer to the public. Terra di Siena Film Festival is also an opportunity for the city. An opportunity to celebrate the return to the show after two years of closure” , says Alessandro Haber, one of the protagonists of ‘Hostages’, a film by Eleonora Ivone in competition tonight at 6.30 pm at the Cinema Nuovo Pendola.
‘Hostages’?
“An animated black comedy – Haber anticipates – with a comical adhesion to our social reality. Marco, chased by the police after a robbery, enters a bakery and takes the patrons hostage. He is an improvised criminal; a small businessman who, at the yet another cartelariale, he is upset. Then, Amber a former nurse, now a prostitute; Regina a cardiopathic pensioner; Remo, an aggressive baker; Ismail a Somali salesman. I play the commissioner; with the negotiator Anna we have to solve the case: two opposing faces of the state . This human mix of the film finds himself trapped in an unpredictable situation. “
Your commissioner?
“A character who would not hesitate to stab anyone in the back; not used to mediating. Very different from the psychologist Anna with whom he is in conflict. The commissioner wants to act with force; he is uncompromising and obtuse, blindly aims at order and repression. . The negotiating psychologist despises violence; she would like to face the crisis with mediation, she is the most human soul of the state “.
Difficult to immerse yourself in a character to avoid.
“The actor must always know how to interpret his role, do it his own even if he is the opponent of his personality: with will, experience, professionalism”.
The idea of the film?
“It is a comedy that talks about inequalities, that is, conflicts. A game of relationships based on drives: fear, generosity, solidarity, opportunism, contempt, despair”.
The cast?
“We have formed a close-knit group that has worked well: I am with Vanessa Incontrada, Gian Marco Tognazzi, Elena Cotta, Francesco Pannofino, the other Jonis Bascir, Eleonora Ivone”.
Siena?
“A beautiful city, full of charm, which I also know for work reasons, and where I always return with pleasure”.
“His projects?
“In the meantime, my first autobiography ‘I wanted to be Marlon Brando’ came out yesterday: a sincere and unconventional story, written with the director and editor Mirko Capozzoli, in the bookshop with Baldini + Castoldi. There is everything: from my childhood to Tel Aviv, the return to Italy, the discovery of an immoderate passion for acting and the desire to land in Hollywood. I have been asked many times to write about my life. What have I discovered?, Ethical, economic. I am a decent person. , with a great passion, which saved me “.
