Russia intends to sign a declaration on environmental requirements with the countries of the Arctic Council – Economy and business
MOSCOW, October 1. / TASS /. Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Register with the international community Arctic Council a declaration on Arctic tourism, which would approve environmental requirements for the development of this area. Tatiana Menshikova, Deputy Head of the Department of State Tourism Projects and Tourism Safety of Rostourism, announced this at the Altai Ecological Forum on Friday.
“One of the initiatives that has been announced is to sign a declaration on Arctic tourism with the Arctic Council countries,” she said.
According to Menshikova, Russia needs a unified international document, which will reflect the standards for the rational use of resources, the preservation of biodiversity, the introduction of best practices in the field of sustainable tourism in the Arctic regions.
The task is to use those conditions and those conditions that include the preservation of the environment. GOSTs, which will be related to environmental friendliness, here, of course, have infrastructure and improvement, “Menshikova said.
The Arctic Council was established in 1996 in accordance with the Ottawa Declaration and is a high-level intergovernmental forum promoting cooperation in the region, especially in the field of environmental protection. The council members are Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands), Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, USA, Finland and Sweden.
