Car crashes from the motorway at Westend to the railway site
A traffic accident with two seriously injured people on the A 100 took place on Sunday morning for Hours of obstruction in the traffic of the S-Bahn and on the motorway taken care of at Berlin’s Westend. A car had come off the road on Sunday morning at around 2 a.m. on the city motorway heading north just before Spandauer Damm, the police said. The car crashed into a mobile guardrail on the right, took off and fell “around 10 meters deep” from the bridge.
The car landed upside down next to the tracks. “There were debris everywhere,” said the spokeswoman. Witnesses watched two men free themselves from the wreck. A third passenger, 17 years old, was trapped and had to be rescued by the fire department. He came with life-threatening injuries in a hospital. The other seriously injured passenger, 28 years old, was also treated in a clinic.
Of the alleged driver fled on foot unrecognized in the direction of Spandauer Damm. A police helicopter is looking for him – initially without success.
Because of the police and fire brigade operations on the track, according to Deutsche Bahn, the Train traffic on lines S41 and S42 between Halensee and Beusselstraße interrupted. Buses drove as a substitute. It also happened on the A 100 at the accident site and on Spandauer Damm Traffic restrictions. “Numerous rescue vehicles are brought into position there,” said the police spokeswoman. 57 rescue workers were on site according to the fire brigade.
