“Is hushed up” – new wave of asylum in Austria – politics
Burgenland’s head of state, Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ), comments on the current asylum situation on the eastern border and does not spare criticism.
Just one day ago, Burgenland’s governor, Hans Peter Doskozil, made a statement that made headlines across the country and a lot of talking point. Because according to the SP politician, negotiations are already taking place on the end of the corona measures – “in close consultation with the experts” and with enough vaccinations.
And also an exact date for these easing could be in conversation with Doskozil “Today” already leaked: November 11th, Burgenland national holiday! However, there is only one out of the Corona rules “if the success is successful and the numbers are right,” said the sovereign.
I am “Today”-Interview, the 51-year-old spoke not only about the measures in force in the country, but also commented on the asylum situation on the eastern border. And Doskozil did not mince his words and did not spare himself criticism of the asylum policy in Austria – as well as of the government.
“The numbers are immense”
“I was in Oberpullendorf. We have over 100 arrests every day. The numbers are immense,” the ex-police officer surprised “Today” clear. The problem: “We are silent about it, that mustn’t be. I was always accused of doing a Schmied policy and not a Schmiedl policy.”
And further: “If we then talk about socio-political issues, where the social democracy has its home and base and we then lose right here to the KPÖ, which makes social policy in Graz, then of course one cannot be satisfied with that,” said Doskozil thus took a stand on the election in the Styrian capital.
According to Burgenland’s head of state, this “must definitely be dealt with.” But: “We will not make that public in this situation. We will try to work it up internally.” The SP politician is also familiar with uncertainty among citizens.
“The population is insecure”
“I notice a mood that explains the population that explains that “Today”-Interview.
On the part of the ruling party, however, attempts are being made to “keep this topic silent”. Hans Peter Doskozil makes it clear: “We have to stand up, demand answers and actions.
Police confirm the issue
Upon request, the LPD Burgenland confirms: “Recently there were up to 800 arrests per week, of course migration is a large task area of the police due to the geographical location of Burgenland. But the population can rely on us to neglect all security police obligations.”
It is simply not enough “to drive through world history and drive police officers to Hungary. Here in Austria, when & act, you have to act on a European level. I expect accents.”
