Elected by acclamation in Rimouski and Mont-Joli?
Those interested in the positions of mayors and councilors have until 4:30 p.m. this Friday to submit their application form.
According to data from Elections Quebec updated Thursday evening, there will be elections for mayor and in 9 of the 11 districts of Rimouski.
As you already know, Guy Caron and Virginie Proulx are fighting for mayor.
For now, there could be an election by acclamation in 2 districts since Réjean Savard in Terrasses Arthur Buies and Dave Dumas in Sainte-Blandine-Mont-Lebel are the only candidates in the running.
There are 2 candidate-candidates in the districts of Sacré-Cœur, Nazareth, Sainte-Odile, Saint-Pie-X and le Bic.
There will be a three-way fight in the districts of Saint-Germain, Saint-Robert and Pointe-au-Père.
And there is even a four-way fight in the Rimouski-Est district.
In Mont-Joli, the outgoing mayor and 6 of the 7 councilors could be elected by acclamation at the end of the day.
A few hours from the end of the nominations, Martin Soucy has no opponent to the town hall.
5 of the 6 outgoing councilors are the only candidates in their neighborhood.
In Ward 4, outgoing councilor Jean-Pierre Labonté will face Susye Lévesque.
