The new retail spaces are being designed for categories including fashion and lifestyle for an “international, unique and central location” as part of Finavia’s largest development project in history.

According to the investment program, the area of the Helsinki-Vantaa terminal will increase by + 45% and will exceed 250,000 square meters.
At the same time, 12 new ports will be introduced and both baggage handling and passport control capacity will be increased by + 50%.
Parts of the project include a renovated apron area, an expansion of the airport’s parking facilities to 4,800 spaces and a new multimodal travel hub connecting different modes of transport.
The Terminal 2 element of the extension will be opened in three phases, and the new entrance, Arrivals Hall and Multimodal Transport Center are scheduled to open on December 1 this year.
The new check-in points and the new security checkpoint in T2 will be opened in March-June 2022. At the same time, part of the Schengen gate area will be completed.
Finally, in the summer of 2023, new baggage drop-off facilities will be completed and services will be upgraded in the Schengen port area.
