BALANCE SHEET: Historic moment for Moldova – PNL provided financing for Moldova’s highways through PNRR
PNL deputy Ioan Balan greetsA signing in Bucharestetyou, in the presentţa Preetof the European Commission, Ms Ursula von der Leyen, of Plan Naţrecovery etand Rezilienyour, financial mechanism through which it is allocatedA over 8.8 billion euros for transport infrastructure alone.
“For PNL, Moldova is the first place in terms of large infrastructure works. PNL did this through concrete facts, given that the highways of Moldova, the A7 Motorway of Moldova and the A8 Motorway of the Union, will be financed first by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Therefore, every Romanian can see how damaging were the governments led by PSD, which delayed for years among the essential projects for the development of Moldova. Today, PNL is launching all the construction sites in the country, with the help of non-reimbursable European funds. If PSD promised toll highways, built from the pockets of Romanians, PNL manages to build on European non-reimbursable money.
Therefore, 3.1 billion euros will provide financing for the construction of highways, 3.9 billion euros will go to the modernization of railways, 1.2 billion euros in urban transport and 600 million euros for subway projects. If we add to these amounts and funds that will come through the multiannual budget of the EU 2021-2027, we can say with all our might that it is a historic moment for Moldova and for Romania as a whole.
However, I will be fully happy only when the highway projects and that they are avoided become a reality, and Romanians can actually enjoy their use. I manifest this reservation in conditions in which Romania has a detrimental tradition in stumbling in all kinds of bureaucratic hassles, which is particularly damaging to major projects. Either a stamp is missing on the last page, or an opinion has been forgotten, or I don’t know what agreement or study has expired. All these bureaucratic obstacles must be removed urgently. Romania is not allowed to miss this historic financial opportunity and I think that Romanians have understood that only PNL can bring them the long-awaited development. However, it is essential that all political parties ensure political consensus on major projects for the country, and the opposition understands that they are projects for the benefit of every Romanian, “said PNL Suceava MP Ioan Balan.
