Alcoutim is the only municipality in Portugal at extreme risk
O extreme risk of infection occurs when a municipality has a cumulative incidence of 14 days above 960 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants.
In the bulletin last Friday, the day on which the values of the councils are communicated, the council of Barrancos was the only list, having come out in the meantime. The new report from the revealing authorities that is now at this level the county of Alcoutim with 1,252 cases in the analysis regarding the 14-day cumulative incidence between September 16 and 29.
In the explanatory note of the data by municipality, it is stated that a cumulative increase “corresponds to the quotient between the number of new confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to the moment of analysis and the estimated resident population”.
In very high risk, that is, with a report of between 480 and 959.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, there are only two municipalities, five less than the previous week: Barrancos (801) and Vidigueira (566).
Between 240 and 479.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, the bulletin reports the existence of 16 municipalities in the conditions, three less than in the last analysis.
According to the bulletin, between 120 and 239.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days are in 53 municipalities, 25 less than in the previous week.
Growing is a list of municipalities with zero cases of infection in the period between 16 and 29 and September. In this situation are 32 of the 308 municipalities, almost double compared to last Friday’s report, which registered 17 municipalities with no new cases.
Portugal recorded in the last 24 hours four deaths attributed to covid-19, 696 new cases of infection by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and a reduction in hospital admissions, but one more in intensive care.
According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), 357 people are hospitalized, less than on Thursday, of which 67 in intensive care, plus one in the last 24 hours.
The deaths occurred in the North (1), Center (1), Alentejo (1) and Algarve (1) regions.
The incidence rate of infections with SARS-CoV-2 in the last 14 days dropped once again both on the mainland and nationally, with a slight increase in the transmissibility index being registered.
At the national level, an incidence rate dropped from 105.6 per 100,000 inhabitants to 101.7, according to the joint epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge released today.
In mainland Portugal, this indicator dropped to 107.3 cases of infection to 103.
The Rt – which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection of each person carrying the virus, has registered a slight increase since Wednesday, from 0.87 to 0.89 nationally and from 0.87 to 0.89 in Continental Portugal.

In Portugal, since March 2020, 17,979 people have died and 1,069,975 cases of infection have been recorded, according to data from the General Directorate of Health.
The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
