Fun fact: the Jet d’eau
The impressive fountain in the lake basin of Geneva originally served as a pressure relief valve for the power plant’s pressurized water pipeline, built in 1885, with which these jewelers operate their machines. At that time the fountain was only a few meters high, but even so it was already attracting the attention of passers-by. That is why the city decided in 1891 to increase the water pressure and move the fountain into the lake basin as a tourist landmark. The current system dates from 1951 and shoots 500 liters of seawater per second at a speed of around 200 km / h.

5 – The icon on Lake Geneva
The Beau-Rivage Genève, part of the Swiss Deluxe Hotels, is an icon right on Lake Geneva. It has stood here since 1865 and has already had many prominent personalities – state presidents, film actresses and fashion designers. The former UN Secretary General once put it in a nutshell: “There are luxury hotels and then Beau-Rivage!” (“There are luxury hotels and there is the Beau-Rivage!”). And the story continues – the glamor has by no means left the lively hotel. Even today, what has rank and name goes in and out here.
