RegioJet’s Croatian connections transported almost one hundred thousand people, changing the route next year
RegioJet also requires the connection of Poland and Ostrava to the Adriatic for next year.
A total of 98,145 passengers carried RegioJet trains connecting the Czechia and Croatia in their second season. Less than 90,000 passengers traveled directly to and from the destination in Croatia (the rest of the passengers used the connections, especially on the Prague – Budapest section). This is an increase of 50% compared to last season.
Fill it out with data released by RegioJet after the last train ride of the season on Monday from Split. He, too, was almost sold out: over 500 people traveled with him. This year, RegioJet extended the operation of the line by one month, with trains running from the end of May. Most passengers on this train bought a ticket on the Czech-Croatia route. Approximately 15% of passengers were from Slovakia or Hungary.
“The sold-out of the connections was huge all the time. The total average occupancy was more than 90%. Trains carried 50% more passengers than last year, “ said RegioJet spokesman Aleš Ondrůj. The Prague – Split connection has become the longest-long railway connection in the EU by one kilometer.
More time to turn trains
RegioJet had to deal with some long-delayed connections during the season, such as accidents from other carriers, locomotive failures or track restrictions due to closures or natural disasters. Problems often occurred due to exclusions on the Czech side, the train often crossed the border with an hour’s delay.
The carrier expects to send trains to Croatia next year despite complications. The main change is to be a different route: trains will avoid Budapest, where travel times have been unnecessarily prolonged. “In particular, due to closures on Hungarian territory and also lengthy border clearance at the Croatian-Hungarian border, there were delays with an impact on the treatment of trains at the Prague and Split turning stations. “ added Ondrůj.
The re-routing is intended to enable a larger time reserve in the timetable, especially in Split. Next year, the carrier with a train to the Adriatic wants to enter another European market: it also wants to get a connection from Poland. It will be a separate train, which will not be tied to the connection from Prague. It should still serve the Ostrava region and the eastern part of Moravia, in the Czech Republic it will travel along the corridor from Bohumín to Břeclav.
