Places in Salzburg help each other out with drinking water

Elixhausen and Bergheim are a new example. By joining forces, communities are making supplies even more secure.

Elixhausen’s mayor Michael Prantner in a new pumping station that enabled the drinking water to merge with the neighboring municipality of Bergheim.

Municipalities and cooperatives and improve their drinking water supply. The main reasons are increased dry periods, storm damage and the growth of population and economy. The Flachgau is particularly affected. The recipe is called collaboration.

A number of municipalities have already formed joint water associations for a long time. Regional associations let experts collect data – on an even broader level – and work out proposed solutions.
