Lyon has largely won in Brondby and consolidates its lead at the top of Group A. Monaco leaves the Basque Country with a draw conceded against Real Sociedad
AS Monaco is looking for a point on the lawn of Real Sociedad (1-1) Thursday, during the second day of the Europa League, while Olympique Lyonnais won widely against the Danes of Brondby (3 – 0).
In the evening, Olympique de Marseille did not find the fault against Galatasaray (0-0) in a match marked by a brief hiatus after the Turkish supporters fired smoke from the Marseille stands. The Marseillais are third in their group with two points in two games.
Monaco is losing its mind
The Monegasques, very realistic, opened the score on their first real opportunity, when Axel Disasi headed back to the far post, a corner obtained following a nice offensive movement (16th).
“It’s a Champions League team,” Real Sociedead’s Basque coach Imanol Alguacil said before the match. His troops reacted well and Merino equalized, with his head too (56th), despite a desperate dive from Nübel.
In this same Group B, PSV Eindhoven won in Austria, on the lawn of Sturm Graz (4-1), and therefore takes the lead of the group with four points, like AS Monaco (1 victory, 1 defeat each).
Toko Ekambi sees double
Meanwhile, against the Danes of Brondby, OL had to wait more than an hour before finding the opening three times, first thanks to a double from Karl Toko Ekambi (64th, 71st), followed by a third and last but marked by Houssem Aouar (86th), for the road.
In the other big games of this first part of the evening, Sparta Prague beat Glasgow Rangers (1-0) and Legia Warsaw beat Leicester by the same score.
The surprise came from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium where Napoli fell heavily (2-3) against Spartak Moscow, because of a double from Promes on the Russian side and despite a penalty from Osimhen during stoppage time.
Even more serious, in Turkey, Fenerbahçe conceded three goals (0-3) at home against the Greeks of Olympiakos.
