Luxembourg. A street in Esch-sur-Alzette banned from bicycles, controls intensify

The mayor from Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) announced last June: bicycles, scooters or roller skates are now prohibited in part of its city center.

Between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., this part of the hypercentre turns into a pedestrian zone where “cyclists, users of scooters, roller skates and other electric and non-electric motors are prohibited” during this time slot.
To overcome this new rule, the Jonctioun Brill-Stadhaus was presented to the public by the City. In particular, it allows cyclists to take a route between Place de l’Hotel de Ville and Place de la Resistance. A choice that was not unanimous on social networks.
But, at the start of autumn, this directive is taking a new turn. On social networks, the border town announced that this rule will be “more strictly controlled” from from Monday, October 4, 2021.
So be careful if you want to take this street in the middle of the day, the police may be waiting for you at the bend …
