The expansion of both companies reflects the high demand for Irish high-tech construction and engineering services in Sweden and throughout the Nordic region. According to Enterprise Ireland, Ireland’s trade and innovation agency, over 50 Irish high-tech construction companies operate in the Nordic region, with only 40 in Sweden. A high level of mission-critical facilities are being built in the Nordic region and Irish companies have been leading, designed, built or adapted contractors for all the overall data center projects in the region.
Kirby Group Engineering has officially opened its latest office in Gävle. Five years since the Irish company started working in Sweden, this announcement is a clear statement from Kirby‘its commitment to continued growth in the Nordic region. Kirby‘s cutting-edge expertise and experience in the construction of data centers, as well as the team‘s reputation for project delivery, has helped secure a number of prestigious contracts with global technology leaders. As a result, the business in Sweden has quickly grown to become one of Kirby‘busiest in Europe.
Kirby’s team throughout Sweden represents several nationalities from all over Europe as well as the Gävle area. Collen also announces the opening of its new offices in Gävle, having already established itself as an entrepreneur at the forefront of the fast data center sector in Europe. Collen has worked in Sweden since 2017 and before that in Germany since 2014. The base in Sweden will continue to build on the company’s reputation for performance, quality, value for money and a partnership with all stakeholders.
Since 2017, the company has‘s turnover in Sweden has increased from €110m 2017 to over €320 million by 2020, and growth is expected to continue in the near future. Collen has experienced significant growth in the data center sector and has built hyper-scale data centers for a number of customers in the market.

Nearly 300 Enterprise Ireland customer companies are active in the Swedish market. Enterprise Ireland customer exports to the Nordic region increased by 33% by 2020 €1.1 billion. This is largely driven by a continued increase in demand for Irish high-tech construction and engineering services.
