Iulian Fota: Moldova once again has the chance to be the success story of the Eastern Partnership
The visit of the German president to Chisinau is a sign that the West has hope again in the modernization of the Republic of Moldova. Moreover, the last visits of some European officials, but also of several heads of state were succeeded by several financial aids and not only, something that did not exist during the time of President Igor Dodon. This conclusion was reached by Iulian Fota, general director of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, and Viorel Cibotaru, director of the European Institute of Political Studies in the Republic of Moldova, broadcasting invitations “Point on AZi” from TVR Moldova.
Also, the director general of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute says that the foreign aid that started coming to the Republic of Moldova is an effect of the official visits of some state presidents and high-ranking officials. At the same time, he believes that society should appreciate this openness of the West, which did not exist in Igor Dodon’s time.
“From what I have followed so far, all the organizations and not only, offered concrete things and help, which in the time of Igor Dodon we did not have. We have already seen that there is a whole series of extremely important financial aid for a country that is still bankrupt. We see that every leader, every country comes with concrete aid, from vaccines, extremely important during this period, to a whole series of one-off aid plus development assistance, which, I repeat, in the time of Igor Dodon we did not have . It is simple to put on a line, what help did the Republic of Moldova receive in Dodon’s time? Not even Russia offered aid in Dodon’s time. And what aid is being received now “, added Iulian Fota.
We mention that the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is on a two-day official visit to Chisinau and showed all his openness to support the Republic of Moldova in its European course. He also offered 10 million euros in aid on behalf of Germany, money that the Chisinau authorities will decide how to invest.
The President of Germany is the fifth head of state to come to the Republic of Moldova during the term of President Maia Sandu. On Friday, the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, is also expected to pay a two-day visit to Chisinau.
