In Russia, the rules of technical inspection for some car owners have changed – the period for extending the validity of diagnostic cards issued when passing a technical inspection of cars has ended, the validity period expires from February 1 to September 30, 2021. About it it says in the corresponding government decree.
The resolution was adopted after new rules for technical inspection came into force on March 1, 2021. According to the document, the validity of diagnostic cards falling under these conditions was automatically extended for six months, but not less than until October 1, 2021.
This means that, for example, the diagnostic card expires on September 30, 2021, you can add another six months to it – it will be valid until March 30, 2022. At the same time, diagnostic cards that are valid until October 1 and beyond do not have such benefits anymore and must be replaced according to general rules – that is, car owners with such documents need to undergo an inspection immediately after their expiration.
Along with this, in September, a bill was introduced to the State Duma to abolish the regular technical inspection of cars owned by private individuals. If the initiative is accepted, the procedure will remain mandatory only when registering, changing the owner, changing the design and replacing the main units of a car or motorcycle over four years old. This initiative is exclusively for individuals. It has already been approved by the government, and reportedly will be adopted by the end of 2021.
