Smog over Krakow gave up to a height of 100 meters. Above this anti-contention, we clean up – the results of research conducted with the use of a social tool in the capital of Małopolska.
“We know what the air quality looks like at ground stations, but we didn’t know how it changes with increasing altitude. According to popular opinion, the stronger the wind, the better the quality. Studies have shown that, however, on the installation of a country, where wind, wind, it can be quite the opposite – in the valleys of cities, the so-called cold air pools, air quality assurance.
Air research has been using the balloon for two years now with the AGH and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management. The Max Planck Institute for Biogeomy from Germany is also working on the first chemicals.
For the year of the future lookout, which will always be in Krakow, whenever they can in the weather, skilful methods that may have new methods of assessing concentrations (CO2, CH4 and H2O), conditions for selection outside the office of the disappointed, and meteorological devices.
As a standard, the Krakow sightseeing balloon hovers about 150 meters above the city center, and during flights it rises up to 280 meters. The balloon is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency.
The balloon is also up-to-date on air quality – with the help of clouds on time, changing colors. Green color means refresh, red color – bad quality refresh. The data shown comes from the reference station of the Chief Environmental Inspectorate in Dietla Street, which is held in a balloon and shows the quality status in the center of Krakow.
The Krakowscy are planning further balloon test workshops. According to the announcements, the measurements were also to remain at night, when the PM10 dust care changed. This research is possible thanks to the possibility of establishing cooperation with scientists from France (French National Research Center), which may be facilitated by using technical assistance in Paris. The new instrument for these tests has already been installed in the balloon.
Thanks to the observation balloon, AGH UST scientists also conduct 24/7 measurements of caution and methane in the atmosphere every month. Their projects “Work under the EU program” CO2 to the network of tools from the “Copernicus” system. (PAP)
