An Art Deco wabi-sabi hotel in the heart of Vienna
Deco environments where nothing is left to chance, full of colors and patterns, and a new rooftop restaurant: theHotel Motto from Vienna is preparing to open its doors at the beginning of October, giving a new life to one of the most beautiful buildings on the central shopping street Mariahilfer Strasse. Room-favors, one different from the other and a bakery with an outdoor area where fragrant bread and sweets are kneaded all day round to complete the offer of the most chic hotel in the Austrian capital.
“Hotel Motto is a journey through different styles, but with local roots – explains Bernd Schlacher, owner and creative director of the Motto group – The desire was for traditional Viennese architecture with the glamor of Paris 1920s, to define interior Bold but with a wabi sabi soul and attention to comfort that comes from Scandinavian design ».
The project, entrusted to the studio Arkan Zetinoglu Architects, has been defined in every detail. Schlacher continues «I know hotels, I love hotels, I have stayed in hundreds of hotels. I am at the conclusion that the guests have arrived more than normal, of the obvious. This is why the standard at Motto is very high, we have studied the ventilation grilles so that they are not trivial ».
Motto is located inside a corner building dating back to 17th century; the only contemporary insertion is the glazed structure of the Chez Bernard rooftop restaurant, bright as a lantern. There, too, winks at France boulangerie Motto Brot, an old-time shop open on the street and perfect for a sweet take away.
The rooms are all to be discovered, in perfect balance between eccentricity and classicism. 83 rooms and 8 suites all different, they amaze with floral wallpapers, old-time tubs with brass feet, custom designed carpets and tiles, inspired by the tradition of Weiner Werkstatte.
