Ukraine honors the memory of the victim of Babyn Yar
Today is the Day of Remembrance of the Victim of Babyn Yar – one of the most important symbols of the Holocaust.
For two days, September 29-30, 1941, the first mass shooting of unarmed civilians was carried out in Nazi-occupied Kyiv, Ukrinform reported.
In total, from September 29 to October 11, 1941, the SS killed almost the entire Jewish population of the city – more than 50 men, women and children. In the first two days of the shootings alone, about 34,000 people were built. On October 1, 2, 8 and 11 – about 17 thousand more people.
The two-and-a-half-kilometer-long Babin Yar-Balka in northwestern Kyiv, which in some places reached a depth of 50 meters, was chosen as the site of the mass shootings. The directions of the street were arranged by the gate, through which people passed groups of 30-40 people. Previously, they were forced to undress, take away their personal belongings, and then chased the victims with batons to passages in violence at the edge of the ravine. Machine gunners sat on the opposite side. The bodies of the shot rolled down the slope to the bottom. After the ditch was filled with 2-3 layers of bodies, the ground was sprinkled on top of them.
In total, during the Second World War in Babyn Yar, according to various estimates, from 100 to 150 people – Jews, Roma, Karaites, Soviet prisoners of war, members of the Ukrainian national-political resistance movement, the needs of psychological clinics and other national social groups involved in the occupation. considered “superfluous”.
On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victim of Babyn Yar, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov addressed Ukrainians.

He invites citizens to make every effort, but does not allow such terrible events to happen again in the future.
