Sweden lifts warning for pandemic travel from 1 October
Sweden will repeal all Covid-19 pandemic travel advice against non-essential travel from 1 October.
The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ advice against non-essential travel to all countries in the world was introduced on 14 March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was the first time a decision on travel advice applied to the whole world. As the situation has improved, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has gradually lifted the Council against travel to a number of countries, mainly in Europe, and now pandemic-related advice against travel to the rest of the world will be repealed from 1 October.
“The Council against travel to all countries in the world was an extraordinary measure in a difficult and unpredictable time. The ambition has always been to lift the Council against travel as soon as possible and our assessment is that we have reached that point. However, it is important to remember that the pandemic is far from over, which will still affect travel, says Foreign Minister Ann Linde.
“Travelers still have a great responsibility to find out for themselves what applies to their destinations and follow the rules and recommendations that exist,” she added.
The embassy’s travel information for each country is available at swedenabroad.se and in the UD Resklar app. This includes information about any conditions of entry or reference to where this information can be found.
