Salzburg celebrates a clear home win over Lille

Salzburg’s young footballers scored their first victory in the UEFA Youth League on matchday two. After the 0: 2 at the start in Seville, the U19 team coached by Liefering trainer Rene Aufhauser prevailed in Grödig against OSC Lille 3: 1 (1: 0).

The Croatian Roko Simic with a double (32nd / penalty, 39th) and Dijon Kameri (65th) ensured the clear home win. Yakine said it only managed to correct the result in the 89th minute. The next group opponent for Salzburg is on October 20th at the home of VfL Wolfsburg.

Salzburg residents shine with efficiency

In contrast to the opening defeat in Seville, this time the efficiency matched against Lille. Before the penalty, Kevin Mercier’s Thomas Schiestl fouled, Simic was safely converted.

Before the second goal of the 18-year-old Croat, who scored five times in eight games for Liefering in the second division, Justin Omoregie hit the bar. Kameri was responsible for the third goal from seven meters after Schiestl’s cross.

The games in the Champions League path take place as a prelude to those of the professional teams. Last year, the Youth League, which Salzburg had sensationally won in 2017, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
