Russia will help South Ossetia to open a second PCR laboratory in the republic – Economy and business
TSKHINVAL, September 29. / TASS /. The Russian Ministry of Health will help open a new laboratory in the republic for carrying out a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on the basis of the Republican Multidisciplinary Medical Center in Tskhinval, Soslan Naniev, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Transcaucasian Republic, told reporters on Wednesday.
“We have already agreed with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to open a PCR laboratory on the basis of the Republican Multidisciplinary Medical Center, funds have been allocated to us. We asked our specialists for the capacities they need, they chose them themselves, chose them, and in the near future we will receive them. “and the laboratory will work,” Naniev said.
He noted that a corresponding specialist from the Russian Federation – a laboratory assistant – is already working in South Ossetia, and in cooperation with her, South Ossetian specialists have come to the conclusion that one more PCR laboratory is needed. “We will try to make the laboratory work before the New Year,” the minister said.
Currently, in South Ossetia, which exceeds 50 thousand people, only one PCR laboratory operates – on the basis of the Yugosetpotrebnadzor Committee.
Polymerase chain reaction is a molecular biology method that allows a significant increase in small concentrations of nucleic acid fragments in biological material. In addition to DNA amplification, PCR allows many manipulations with nucleic acids and is widely used in biological and medical practice, for diagnostics, for example, for cases of paternity, for cloning genes and other genes.
