Russia started the current European Cup season in eighth place in the UEFA table of coefficients, however, due to the poor results of the teams in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League (Spartak twice lost to Benfica with the same score 0: 2) and the Conference League (Rubin and Sochi “lost to the Polish“ Rakuv ”and the Serbian“ partisan ”in the third qualifying stage, respectively. How the UEFA coefficients are formed
The UEFA coefficient table defines the number of clubs delegated to countries to compete in European competition. From the next season, points gained in the 2017/18 season (12,600) will not be counted; only the indicators of the seasons 2018/19 (7583), 2019/20 (4666), 2020/21 (4333), 2021/22 (currently 2100) and 2022/23 are taken into account.
Seasonal odds by adding up the points scored by clubs in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League and dividing by the number of teams representing the country. The overall ranking is the sum of the odds from the last five seasons. One point is awarded for winning a qualifying round match, and 0.5 points for a draw. For a victory in the game of the main stage, the country receives two points, for a draw – one point.
Four bonus points will be awarded for reaching the Champions League group stage and reaching the 1/8 of the tournament. For the club’s reaching the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals of the Champions League or Europa League, the country receives one point. Only played matches are taken into account, Technical characteristics are not taken into account. Meetings ending with a penalty shootout are settled in accordance with the result that was recorded following the results of extra time.
