During World War II, the Nazis, who occupied Kyiv, used the lessons of Babin Yar in the northwestern part of the city as a place of mass executions of civilians, the main Jews. On September 29, 1941, by order of the occupation administration, the entire Jewish population was associated with Babin Yar. Here the people of the group were escorted through the checkpoint, after which they were driven to the edge of the ravine and shot. This day and the next day, 33,771 people were killed.
In total, the mass killings in training lasted until the Nazi army left the city: according to official figures, about a hundred people were shot dead in Babyn Yar.
