Experts decide on the mini lockdown in Thessaloniki
The alarm has meant to the experts the situation that prevails in Thessaloniki, after the 435 cases that are recorded on Tuesday.
Thus, epidemiologists will meet to decide if the city enters the “red” and a mini lockdown is imposed.
There is also concern for Larissa, where 183 new infections were recorded on Tuesday, but also Xanthi with 122.
What weighs heavily on the scales, according to infectious disease specialists, is that in Thessaloniki almost half of the cases of coronavirus are recorded in the whole country.
Plevris and Gaga a week before their visit to Thessaloniki had ruled out new restrictive measures, but things seem to have changed.
When we talk about a ban, at this stage, we mean according to epidemiologists, a ban on traffic from 1 to 6 in the morning and a ban on music in the respective nightclubs.
The flow of patients to the hospitals of the city is continuous and concerns the authorities. Indicatively, in the past 24 hours in the hospitals of Thessaloniki 218 people were treated in simple covid-19 clinics and another 69 in the Intensive Care Units (ICU). The new coverage of covid beds in the ICU is large and has signaled an alarm to the authorities. As in last year’s severe epidemic wave, general ICU beds have been blocked for the needs of the epidemic, raising concerns about the coverage that will be required previously joined by an epidemic in the coming, difficult months.
About 10,000 children positive for coronavirus after the opening of schools
The operation of schools is an additional aggravating factor for the expression of the epidemic in the regions of Macedonia, Thrace and Thessaly. As it has been pointed out during the weekly updates, the professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of the Medical School of Athens and the Committee of Experts, Mrs. Vana Papaevangelou, the children became links in an unpredictable family chain of transmission, but with whom the risk to children as patients with covid-19.
The EODY data clearly show the dynamics of the epidemic in minors after the opening of schools. From the first bell on September 13 – and the regular, twice-weekly, coronavirus screening through student self-monitoring – to the fact that nearly 10,000 HIV-positive children were detected and isolated.
Specifically, during the week of September 13-18, the news of cases in children and adolescents was limited to 20-21% of the total daily diagnoses, reaching 25% to 30% of the days that followed. The latest data show a relative stabilization in the spread of the virus among minors, with a significant difference in the epidemiological data found in the last two Tuesdays of the month.
Specifically, both on the corresponding day of the previous week (21/9) and yesterday, the new infections of children with coronavirus exceeded 1,000 in about 3,000 diagnostic total, with the relevant problem rising to a high of 33%. In fact, according to the professor of Environmental Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Demosthenes Sarigiannis, this news will continue to move upwards, reaching even 40% of coronavirus cases.
The business plan for covid-19 children’s clinics
Based on what unfolded during the previous period, during the epidemic waves in northern Greece regarding the hospitalization of children, they “unfolded” with attention to those responsible for the treatment plan for minors with covid-19 for the next period.
The exclusive treatment of children with covid-19 from all over Macedonia in pediatric clinics of large hospitals in Thessaloniki, which was one way in the previous epidemic waves, would no longer follow. The data on the transmissibility of the Delta mutation in children and the large number of new infections in the anxious actually necessitate a rerouting to the Ministry of Health: the increasing hospitalizations of children expected in the near future will be channeled to more hospitals and not to one or two large hospitals
From today the availability of self-control for students from pharmacies
From today, Wednesday 29 September until Friday 8 October, students of all levels will obtain four free self-diagnostic (self) tests from pharmacies, in order to cover the effects of the next two weeks (4-17 / 10) and to be offered to the school according to the instructions of the experts, it is mentioned in a relevant announcement.
The Ministry of Education reminds that:
· The self-test will take place up to 24 hours before the approach every Tuesday and Friday at school,
· Screening for the new coronavirus through self-diagnostic test (self-test) is mandatory for students,
· A certificate of negative self-test must be carried by students who do not have a vaccination certificate (for students 12 years and older) or a certificate of previous illness (last semester),
· Vaccinated students are not entitled to free self-examination, as they do not have to perform unless there is a special reason (ie case of a classmate),
· The free self test is available from pharmacies only during working days and hours, so that during the days and nights they can not serve emergency signals.
The ministry continues to provide parents of students 12 and older who have not yet vaccinated their children to rush to do so.
