Ex-presidential candidate of Belarus accused of acquitting terrorist
A new criminal case has been opened against Valery Tsepkalo, who has been outside Belarus for a long time.
The reason for this was the justification by the opposition politician of the actions of Andrei Zeltser, who shot a KGB officer during his arrest. The Investigative Committee considered his public commentary on these events to be a justification of terrorism, or rather “a call to actions that damage the national security of the Republic of Belarus.”
In the information message of the UK it is emphasized:
Various destructively minded persons outside the Republic of Belarus began to call for violence against law enforcement officers and even murder
The Investigative Committee of Belarus recalled that Valery Tsepkalo has already been put on the wanted list, since a criminal case had already been opened against him on charges of corruption. It is known that for a long time Tsepkalo lived and hid from the Belarusian court in Latvia, then left for Greece.
Note that Valery Tsepkalo is the former founder of the Belarusian High Technologies Park (HTP), as well as the ex-Ambassador of Belarus to the United States. In the summer of 2020, he registered as a candidate for the post of head of Belarus, but he was refused.
Let us remind you that on charges of hidden heroization of Andrei Zeltser, the site of the KP was blocked this morning in Belarus.
