Car wrecks Prague: Big problem, what about them?
The wreck of a car that has recently burned down has been standing near the Strahov dormitories for a long time. During the last Strahov open-air festival, the wreckage served as a dance floor. The car ended up on the roof and a group of young men danced on its “belly”. Share the photo on a social network and students who did not know the background were accused by students of demolishing a car. “It had been a charred wreck before“The students defended themselves under the photo on the social network Facebook.
The solution is lengthy
The wreck has been on the ground for some time now and has been dealt with by both the city district and the police. “As for the wreck, the state police have already dealt with it on the spot in cooperation with the fire brigade, so that the vehicle does not constitute an obstacle to road traffic. The police in question were already announced by the police of the Service of the Capital City of Prague (SSHMP) on July 2 as a vehicle suspected of a wreck, “Irena Seifertová, a spokeswoman for the Prague police officers, told Blesk.
The issue of car wrecks does not fall within the competence of the city police; in the event of a suspected wreck, it has only a reporting obligation, as does any citizen. The case must then be resolved by the SSHMP.
“We have already been informed about the wreck from Strahov. In the near future, we will initiate administrative proceedings with the owner of the immovable car. They may appeal against this within two months. If they do not do so, we will issue a decision to tow the vehicle in question – with the entry into force within the next two months. Only then can the wreckage be removed from the roads. Wrecks are always towed by the SSHMP, not the city district. The SSHMP may also ensure the ecological disposal of an immovable vehicle, ”outlined Jiří Hannich, a spokesman for the Prague 6 district.
What exactly is a wreck?
However, the fact that the wreck is towed away and destroyed does not end for the car owner. “According to the valid legislation, the reality is such that the last owner of the vehicle is still responsible for the vehicle (car wreck), even after a futile call for removal, and therefore even if the municipality or an available company removes the wreck, the costs are recovered after this last car owner“Seifert said.
So letting such a wreck be towed is not easy. Often citizens report a car that they consider a wreck, but this defines the wreck often does not match at all. As the Act on Roads informs us: “A wreck is a road vehicle which is obviously unfit for operation on roads and defects in its technical condition and to restore capability would require the replacement, supplementation or repair of essential parts of the mechanism or structure of the road vehicle. “
Abandoned car wrecks can be reported directly on the website of the City Services Administration. m. Prahy, or on the website and application Zmente.to, or contact the city district or city police officers.
