🎾 Tigers shiny Swedes
HAYS, Kan.-Fort Hays State Tennis improved to 4-2 overall during the season with a 7-0 suspension from Bethany College (Kan.) On Tuesday at FHSU tennis courts. The Tigers completely emptied their opponent in six of the nine competitions played for the day.
The Tigers did not give up a point in double action with all three teams winning 6-0. Stefany Stemmer and Maria Paz Diaz team in place No. 1, Fiorella Mendez and Kylie Aufdengarten repaired at No. 2, and Aliyah Frederick and Heidi Lubbers repaired at No. 3.
Voices, Diaz and Mendez remained perfect on the day without allowing a point in singles as well. Votes played No. 1, Diaz played No. 2 and Mendez was No. 3. Apart from 6-0, 6-0 points from places 1 to 3 for FHSU, No. 4 through number 6 positions abandoned only one point each in their matches. Aufdengarten won 6-1 and was 3-0 before her opponent withdrew from the match in place 4. Ferderick won at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0 and Heidi Lubbers water at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1. Hope Lubbers played a pro-8 show match and won 8-1.
Some of the Tigers will now prepare to compete in the ITA Fall Central Regional next weekend in Edmond, Oklahoma. The event is held Friday to Sunday 1-3 October.
