The compulsory vaccination among “caregivers and non-caregivers in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and retirement homes, as well as for professionals and volunteers working with the elderly, including at home ”, has been introduced since Wednesday, September 15, 2021. One dose is sufficient on this date.

In total, 2.7 million French people are affected. The refractory vaccines against Covid-19, can take days off. However, if the employer does not wish, the employee’s contract should be immediately suspended. So he will not receive any remuneration.

“All received at least one dose”

In Calvados, the staff of nursing homes and USLDs (long-term care units) benefit from complete vaccination coverage of 93.6%, ie two doses. They are 95.3% to have received at least a first dose.

The carers of the nursing home Le Florilège, in Fleury-sur-Orne, “all received at least one dose”, attests the director, Samuel Villeroy. In the Rivabel’Âge retirement homes in Ouistreham, and La Palmeraie in Caen, the directors are categorical: “all of our caregivers are vaccinated against Covid-19”.

Some suspended caregivers

As for the private Saint-Martin hospital, “since September 15, almost all health professionals working in Ramsay Santé establishments have now been vaccinated. Unvaccinated professionals (present about 0.9% of the entire group) were suspended until regularization, in accordance with government guidelines. “

The CHU de Caen affirms that “out of more than 7,000 agents, only ten years have been suspended under the vaccination obligation, ie less than 0.2% of the total workforce”. However, according to the CGT, FO, FSU and Solidaires unions, Tuesday, September 14, a day before the vaccination obligation, “5% of the caregivers of the CHU of Caen had not received a dose of vaccine, or about 300 people”.

Even if some have been suspended in the agglomeration of Caen, Normandy remains the first region in France where the vaccination rate is higher among caregivers. Also, the management of the CHU and the Saint-Martin hospital affirm that “the continuity of care is assured”.
