The Slovak Catholic Charity handed over 45,000 school supplies to the children
“It is in Caritas that we meet families who often lack the means to pay for a trip to school. It is a family in material need, which puts them in an unenviable situation. May no parents have to choose between education for their child and food or wood to win housing, ” said Simona Petrušová from the charity center in Piešťany. According to her, the collection also helps a number of parents who we do not need to know are suffering from need, because it is not recognizable at first glance.
In Piešťany alone, school supplies continue to be donated to more than 20 families. The aids were pleased by a mother – a single mother with five children or a freshman Lenka, who is taken care of by an old mother selling Nota Bene.
The collection involved several schools, municipalities, parishes and companies, none in particular hundreds of individuals who adhere to the supportive idea of helping children. The collection is under the auspices of the Mayor of Bratislava, Matúš Vallo, and representatives of the Slovak Catholic Charity were also received at the Presidential Palace by the Official President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, who not only donated several full school bags but also financially supported social scholarships for schoolchildren. “Thanks to donations from the Collection of School Aids, we also contributed to the joy of students and made it easier for them to start school. We thank all donors for participating in the charity work of love and helping our little ones.” said SKCH Secretary General Erich Hulman.
The collection of school supplies is organized every year from 1 June to 15 September by SKCH in coordination with ten diocesan and archdiocesan charities. The 12th year of the collection is needed, the Social Scholarship for Schoolchildren, in which more than 15,000 euros were raised. They will be used to pay for the basic needs of children, as well as clubs, tutoring and school trips.
