This weekend, facing Pointe de La Haye (5-0), Baptiste Lelong has found the net with the FCEH by offering yourself a very nice triple in the derby. An XXL performance that launches the scorer’s season, but also that of his club after the unfortunate setback on the lawn of Saint-Pair during the second day.

News: We can imagine your satisfaction to have scored three goals and managed an assist, during the victory of your team against Pointe Hague (5-0) …
Baptiste Lelong: Yes, it feels good for the confidence. I hadn’t scored for a year in the league, and we know that for a striker, it’s important to score.
Can you tell us about your first two goals, the third having been scored from the penalty spot?
BL: On the first, Thomas Leloutre overflows on the side and the center. It wasn’t intended for me, but I manage to take the ball in front of the defender and shoot from the right into the top window. The second follows a long, extended head touch, and I cut the ball with my head as well.

You can play as well as a center-forward as well as a winger. What’s your favorite job?
BL: I have evolved in the axis for a long time, but for two seasons, I play more on the left side, where I can get on my right foot. It may be more of my qualities. I’m not the most technical player, I put more emphasis on speed and percussion.
Can this victory against Pointe Hague definitely kick off your team’s season?
BL: It was important to win this derby to revive after our defeat at Saint-Pair two weeks ago. We did not want to stick to our achievements in the Coupe de France, because we know that we often manage to be good against the big teams. On the other hand, we sometimes miss the climbs because of poor results in this kind of match, against teams supposedly weaker.
