Prague – Several personalities in Prague at Újezd supported the Sokol Run of the Republic, which will take place on October 28. The events concern, for example, Olympic winners David Svoboda, actor Jakub Kohák, ultramarathoner Miloš Škorpil or the main face of the project, fencer Alexander Choupenitch, who won bronze at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
Personalities together with several other runners met symbolically in the morning at Tyrš’s house in Malá Strana. Then move to Újezd, where they posed for the present photographers with a panorama of Prague Castle. Several of them then ran to Petřín, where one of the Sokol runs will take place in exactly one month. Another should be in another 45 places, including three foreign ones (Ottawa, San Francisco and Washington). According to the organizers, a similar event as in Prague took place today in more than 20 other places. For example, in Děčín, boxer Lukáš Konečný is the ambassador.
The main face of the paddock and the whole project is the recent Olympic medalist Alexandrer Choupenitch, who is currently probably the most famous falcon. “I like that it’s about a healthy lifestyle and a sport that was secluded at the time of the pandemic. It’s time to run out, and remembering the rich history of our country, it’s only good,” Choupenitch said. He is looking forward to the Sokol run of the republic on Petřín. “Rather than a race, it’s fun, it’s about having fun. The track is about six times, you don’t have to train for that in any way,” said the Olympic medalist.
In recent years, David Svoboda, a gold medalist from the London 2012 Olympics in modern pentathlon, has also been a regular participant in the Sokol run. “I won two years ago, I know that because it was started en masse. Last year we ran in waves, so I didn’t even find out my position. It’s not important at all in this event. It’s more like a celebration of running and sports in general, they meet here “the whole family. This year it should start again en masse, which is much better,” Svoboda added.
