Sans-papiers resign in Brussels on Sunday for general reg…
A big national parade of sans-papiers will be organized next Sunday. The start is at 2 p.m. at the North Station in Brussels. The participants request extensive regularization based on new criteria.
The organization is part of the campaign ‘We are also Belgium’, which was named the ‘People without papers’ by the organization in March. The march has permission from the police, Ilse Van de Keere, spokeswoman for the Brussels-Ixelles police, said.
Joint departures will be organized from the largest cities in the country. The organizers ask participants to wear a face mask for health reasons.
In the campaign ‘We are also Belgium’, the organization asks for the regularization of people who are on Belgian territory on the basis of clear and permanent criteria, such as permanent application, work and the risk of danger of returning home. The group also promotes the establishment of an independent regularization committee.
The route of the march runs from the North Station to the Central Station, crossing Albert IIlaan, Kruidtuinlaan, Pachécolaan and Keizerinlaan.
