San Marino. A book to make children passionate about mathematics

“The passion and strength that animated me in writing the book were fully captured”.

These are the words with which Chiara Giacomoni, Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of the Republic of San Marino, summarizes the feelings experienced during the recent meeting in which she donated to the Captains Regent, Gian Carlo Venturini and Marco Nicolini, some copies of the book “The extraordinary story of Zero”, of which she is the author. “The feedback was of great empathy – he explains – images and texts were appreciated in their deepest meanings”.

The teacher, active in the degree courses in Civil Engineering and Management Engineering of the University of San Marino, as well as in the three-year course of Construction and Land Management, has published the story in recent months and has been the protagonist of initiatives that involved school pupils. del Titano: “The mathematical and social implications that characterize this project are many, the goal is to fascinate the very young to the first mathematical concepts and make mathematics more fluid, similar and understandable by all“.

The book is published by Pane e Sale. The illustrations I’m signed by Manuel Bruno. The meeting, which took place on 8 September, was attended by Vito Testaj, representing the secretariat of state for education and culture.
