RomaOstia Half Marathon joins the Gemelli IRCCS Foundation
In finishing the most famous and popular half marathon in Italy, a medical-scientific investigation project will start in a few days which, coordinated by the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS – Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, aims to analyze the effects deriving from Covid -19 on runners and the impact on sports performance. An analysis carried out by sending a specific questionnaire, in digital format, to all subscribers to the event, containing different questions depending on who contracted the virus and who simply got the vaccine.
A delicate initiative and an opportunity for those who work in the sports sector, developed and coordinated by Professor Francesco Landi, a great running enthusiast, professor at the same Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University and Director of the UOC Internal Geriatric Medicine of the Gemelli IRCCS Foundation .
The research on the participants of the half marathon is linked to the #LongevityRun project, launched by the same scientific partners, aimed at sensitize citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles and encourage prevention. “Taking care of your health is important at any age, longevity is not a gift of nature but is conquered step by step, just like you reach the finish line at the end of a race”. And the race, this time, is real, represented by the RomaOstia Half Marathon.
But it doesn’t stop there! To each runner participating in the survey, within the limit of 200 seats, the Longevity Team will provide a free check-up on 15 and 16 October through the station located at the RomaOstia expo, near the starting area on Sunday. Unique and exclusive opportunity through which it will be possible to discover one’s state of health, close to such an eagerly awaited appointment.
Furthermore, for Roman runners who will not be able to benefit from this opportunity, they will be given the opportunity to book the free medical check-up for the following week (23 and 24 October), in conjunction with the #LongevityRun: the competitive 5 km will run at the Terme di Caracalla stadium and for which registration will also be offered.
