Islanders lend unvaccinated Wilde to Sweden
The New York Islanders have loaned Bode Wilde to Vasterviks of HockeyAllsvenskan, the second highest league in Sweden.
Islanders’ prospects have been absent from training camp to this point after being the sole member of the organization to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine. That would be bad enough in itself. But Wilde’s unfortunate series of blunders does not end there.
No, Wilde took things a step further after his unvaccinated status was revealed by flocking to Instagram and falsely suggesting that islanders violated his human rights by not allowing him to participate in the camp and potentially spreading a deadly virus to his teammates and teammates. Wilde quickly turned his Instagram private when his comments began circulating on Twitter.
Now the previous selection in the second round will play in Sweden’s hockey league two. Do not quarrel with Lou Lamoriello.
Maybe Wilde will find the success in Sweden that he has so far failed to achieve in North America.
Wilde, who was once a much-appreciated prospect, has struggled since becoming a pro, picking up just under 8 points in 42 games in two seasons for the Islanders AHL and never ending a positive plus / minus campaign. Even if Wilde had done the responsibility and been vaccinated, he will never crack the islanders on the list anyway.
And now, because of his own choices, he is further away from the NHL than ever.
