Frankfurt – The co-pilot of a Lufthansa flight suffered a medical emergency in the air. On Saturday (September 18, 2021) the Airbus A320-200 aircraft was on its way from Palma de Mallorca to Frankfurt Airport. The incident occurred about 45 minutes before the landing, in which several passengers provide assistance. The Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) confirmed this on request.
The Lufthansa pilot left the cabin shortly before arriving in Frankfurt due to malaise to go to the toilet. In the so-called galley, also the galley of the aircraft, he collapsed all of a sudden, tearing a member of the flight crew with him. According to a press spokesman for the BFU, the flight attendant injured her knee while the co-pilot was apparently unconscious on the floor.

Fortunately, several doctors split up on board the plane to help the two injured. After a while, the co-pilot was even able to resume the duties of “pilot monitoring”, which are tasks that have nothing to do with flying the machine directly. The flight attendant, however, could no longer work for the rest of the flight. The Lufthansa plane finally landed safely at Frankfurt Airport.
