Rank Wildchilds).
The race takes place under the best weather conditions in the Bikepark Innsbruck, among other things on the “MTB World Cup Downhill Track”. The Arial event is confronted at the valley station of the Mutteralm cable car. Around 300 participants were on site.
Training takes place on Saturday. Three of the six extremely technical and very demanding stages could be trained here. Afterwards on Saturday evening it was the turn of the start with a prologue on Stage 6. Here an initial location was made and the starting order for Sunday morning was determined. Already in the prologue it became clear that the local competition would be difficult to beat, which was not least due to the detailed routes of the Austrians. However, Marcel Weil (AMC Rodheim-Bieber) was the best German among the competition from Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands and was only three seconds behind in second place.
Also good conditions for the long racing Sunday. However, on Sunday it became clear after the first two stages what was to be suspected: Weil lost so much time on the two stages “that I had to drive ‘blind’ because they weren’t allowed to be trained the day before Austrians lying to me ”that he finally had to be satisfied with third place. Nevertheless, under the given conditions, he could be satisfied with the result. “I was also very happy to come home healthy, as the tracks are in a completely different league from what we know from our low mountain ranges,” said Weil.
