Almost reach the goal. Portugal already has 84% of the population vaccinated
ANThe report on vaccination against Covid-19 has just been released, showing that 84% of the population has already completed the vaccination, which corresponds to more than 8.6 million citizens. The report specifies that 8,930,596 people (86% of the population) have already taken at least a first dose of the vaccine, while 8,663,808 have completed the vaccination process.
Among a fully immunized population, the most delayed age groups are children aged 12 to 17 (79% already vaccinated with two doses) and young people aged 18 to 24 (84%). From the age of 25, all groups are between 91% and 100% vaccinated.
The age group between 12 and 17 years old saw this week an express rise – from 72% to 79%.
As for vaccination by regions, the North is the region with the greatest advance, having changed 86% of the eligible population already fully vaccinated. The Center and Alentejo reached this week the target of 85%, which served as a reference for the third and final phase of the decontamination plan that takes effect on 1 October.
Lisbon and Vale do Tejo vaccinated, with two doses, 82% of the population, the Azores and Madeira contaminated with 81% of those vaccinated and the Algarve is the region with the most delay, with 77% of the people fully vaccinated.

Portugal has already known more than 19.5 million vaccines, with around 15.8 million doses distributed by vaccination centers in mainland Portugal and by the two autonomous regions.
It should be remembered that the end of the mission of the team coordinating the vaccination process was announced today, with Vice Admiral Gouveia e Melo thanking the population and all entities and professionals involved in the vaccination plan.
The prime minister, António Costa, and the minister of Defense praised the command and visualization capacity of the team that coordinated the vaccination process in Portugal, considering that it reinforced the prestige of the Armed Forces.
