Salzburg (dpa / lby) – A 26-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment in Salzburg for the murder of his wife. Before a jury, the defendant testified on Monday that he stabbed his separated 22-year-old partner with a knife in her apartment out of jealousy. The two toddlers together slept in an adjoining room during the violence. The judgment is not final.
In February, the defendant was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment and ten months probation for the use of violence after he repeatedly assaulted and threatened his wife. The court also banned the man from having contact with his wife.
According to the prosecutor, the wife of her husband would still die in their apartment in March. The defendant said in court that he found chat messages between his wife and a man on her cell phone. He regrets that he hit and stabbed her. He stowed her body in a drawer under the sofa in her living room before enjoying the police.
