The fish’s gift glands are located on top of the fish. They are pushed up when the fish feel threatened. The pain and stinging is extreme, according to Alvestad.
It is unclear why the fish came to Norway.
Viggo Lütcherath is the municipal chief physician in Mandal. He has asked the Institute of Marine Research to map the fish in Norway. They want to find out where the fish are and how many of them there are.
