Canceled last year due to the premature end of the season following the coronavirus pandemic, Rugby Night made its return this Monday at the Olympia, for its 17th edition. The gratin of French rugby had made the trip to the legendary Parisian performance hall, as well as athletes (Tony Yoka, Guillaume Gille, Samir Aït Saïd, Marie-Amélie Le Fur, Sandrine Martinet …) and comedians who came to present the various trophies . And unsurprisingly, it was the 2021 champions of France, Toulouse (Top 14) and Perpignan (Pro D2), who won everything. The staffs of the two teams were logically rewarded, via Ugo Mola and Patrick Arlettaz, but it was their two most emblematic players, Antoine Dupont and Melvyn Jaminet, who were full of trophies. The 24-year-old scrum-half was quite simply voted best player of the Top 14 and best French international. As for the 22-year-old opener, he received the Breakthrough of the Season award and the best player in Pro D2. The icing on the Brennus, Stade Toulousain also received the trophy for the best try (awarded by the public, while the others were by the pairs), through Matthis Lebel, who had concluded during the 21st day against Castres have magnificent collective action of the Red and Black, which had gone up all the field.
